More Teenage Antics from our 2yr Old [mom]
This evening Tovar informed me:

"I need my space!"

Belen and I were both baffled by his new vocabulary of rebellion, but we eventually put the pieces together and figured out that he's probably picking it up from kids at school. He just transfered from the 1 to 2 year old classroom to the 2 to 3 year old one, and has been picking up a lot of new phrases. All of the new phrases have been amusing, but the rest have been much more polite phrasing. For example, one new favorite is "Shall we read a book, Mama?" Which if not immediately complied with is followed by ever louder exclamations of "Shall we??... Shall We?!?!!"

Tovar is indeed a two year old, not a teenager, and when he said "I need my space!" he did not actually mean that he wants to be left alone to angst in his room. He was actually saying it because Belen and I were talking and he was irritated that we weren't paying attention to him.

He was however right on the mark with the "I don't think so" this morning. I'm still not quite sure what to do with that, but am feeling much better about it having figured out where the language is probably coming from.
