    making smarter babies
As some of you may know, western diets are very unbalanced in having too many n=6 fatty acids and too few n=3. Because we build so many things (including cell membranes and neurons) out of these fatty acids, this imabalance causes many different problems. Since standard prenatal vitamins don't include EFAs, S takes an additional EFA supplement. Some studies suggest that this can increase IQ by several points at age 4, ie see here. Postnatal supplementation is likely to have some positive affect as well - I encourage other parents to use this supplement as well. Just make sure you use a high-quality supplement (ie from LEF or VRP), or a non-fish source of oil (flaxseed oil, borage oil), to make sure you aren't getting mercury.
