soup hypothesis
I think I've figured out that it was indeed the soup that made me sick and why, although obviously I'm not going to be testing this hypothesis ;) It took me a little while because the soup is not spicy, and the ingredients seemed pretty benign (chicken stock, eggs, rice, lemon juice). Just now I recall hearing that a very high dosage of vitamin C can cause miscarriage, the reason being that it causes a fast internal ph change.

I probably had about 4 to 5 cups worth of soup last night, which translates to roughly between 1/4 and 1/2 of a cup of lemon juice. It seems quite likely that the acidity is what has upset my system :/ Also would confirm my salsa hypothesis for the first time this happened: salsa, in addition to being spicy, is also acidic... I wonder if it is only acidicness about spicy foods that bothers pregnant women, or if there are other things about spicy that make them dangerous.

Hope the baby's okay, sorry baby!! *rubs tummy* ;)

I imagine its probably fine given how far along I am, seems most likely that my body wouldn't choose to put me through nausea distress if it was going to bail, and that the effects of acidity tend to be flushing out if there are any, as opposed to more discreet damaging.

I'd been really sick up until around 4:30, but am feeling a tad better at the moment... we'll see if it lasts. I hadn't been able to keep anything down all day, the only things that didn't seem outright disgusting were apple sauce, bland crackers, and trail mix, and the apple sauce turned disgusting after a bowl, and my stomach was having none of the latter two for very long ;)

When Patri poured himself some of the soup I'd made for lunch, I got so grossed out from the sight that I almost had to leave the room! ;) This coming from someone who has prided herself since childhood on being invulnerable to stomach afflictions from mere sight or talk of "gross" or "disgusting" things... I have more sympathy for the girly girls now ;)

I was starting to get desperate because I was feeling really awful, I'd not been able to keep anything down all day, was still sick, and getting very hungry. This combination is especially bad, because not eating makes me sick ;) Amusingly, while everything in the house had become disgusting, fast food was seeming somewhat enticing.

Patri had stayed home from work because he's still sick, I asked him how he was doing, and the response was feeling crappy, tired, and dizzy. But I finally couldn't resist talking to him about my food issues and he offered to go out and get something for me. After he assured me that walking would be safe despite his dizziness (he stated up front that driving would not be), I took him up on his offer, and I feel incredibly lucky to have a guy who is going out and taking care of me when he feels so terrible himself. I still feel a little bad for asking, but I think it was pretty important. Highly amusing to think of fast food as a special culinary cure ;)

I asked for fries, chicken tenders, and a burger. Managed down the fries just fine, the smell of the chicken was almost enough to make me put them back, and I haven't dared open the hamburger yet, but its been almost an hour that I've kept the fries down, which makes me optimistic that I will continue improving.

Two of the only reliable foods for me were canned peaches and graham crackers. My OB suggested them when I was talking to her about nausea. I have no idea why, but I could always eat them without problem.

On the off-chance that this bizarre set also works for you, I thought I'd mention them. :)
